Title:

Pablo Neruda And "La Chascona”

Description:
While on my trip in Chile in December 2012, visited all three of Pablo Neruda’s homes, the final being Isla Negra House (El Quisco). Neruda was an obssessive collector of many odds and ends, including traditional Mapuche textiles. Outside of his Isla Negra House, alongside the coast, purchased this from a local woman weaver—a rendering of Pablo Neruda and his third wife Matilde Urrutia, nicknamed "La Chascona,” which means "the tangled one,” referring to her curly hair.
