Description:
Pack the Essentials (Wacky Wizard Games / Wise Wizard Games) is a family-friendly light strategy drafting and polyomino tile-placement board game with a whimsical cat-travel theme. Players act as travelers trying to pack as many cats (and travel essentials like clothing and accessories) into their suitcase as possible.
Gameplay (from rules and publisher info): The game is played over 12 rounds. Each round players choose draft order, take draft bonuses (such as underwear tiles, sock tiles, Pack Rat tokens, and/or pom-poms), draft one of four available accessory polyomino tiles from the shared game board, then place newly gained tiles onto their personal 8x12 suitcase grid. Tiles can be rotated and placed item-side up, or flipped to cat-side up by spending a Pack Rat token, allowing more cats to be packed for scoring. End-game scoring rewards (1) largest connected groups of matching colors, (2) cats packed (each cat worth points), and (3) completion of To-Do List goals.
