Released in the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line as part of the Studio Series line up, Cliffjumper is a redeco of the Earthrise toy WFC-E7, replacing the translucent windshield with light blue opaque plastic and giving him the cartoon-accurate gray and black arms and legs. Unlike the original Earthrise figure Cliffjumper is (mostly) cast in his intended colors as opposed to being made of black plastic painted red, greatly reducing the risk of paint chipping and scratching the original suffered from. He now also sports two Autobot insignia; one on his hood, the other on his roof. Both insignia use the Generation 1 design, rather than the live-action film design that the Earthrise toy had. Additionally, Cliffjumper’s bazooka has been repainted into a metallic blue to somewhat match the original animation.
Both the early stock images used on retail websites and stock renders on the back of the box, show his windows cast in transparent blue plastic. The figure used for stock photos also used a much darker shade of transparent blue compared to the Earthrise toy too. Why the opaque plastic won over the transparent plastic for the final release is anyone’s guess. Unlike the original figure, his windows are uniform light blue instead of a mix of translucent and opaque black.
Like much of the Buzzworthy Bumblebee line-up, Cliffjumper was found at retail in Taiwan in early December 2021 with no prior announcement.
