Title:
Carcassonne Junior
Description:
Carcassonne Junior (also known as My First Carcassonne / Carcassonne Kids) is a simplified, child-friendly tile-laying board game set in the medieval town of Carcassonne. The box front shows cartoon children running near a stone bridge and castle towers, with the 999 Games logo at lower left and icons indicating 2–4 players, about 30 minutes, and ages 4–99.
Theme/story: On July 14 (France’s national holiday), animals (sheep, chickens, cows) are let loose in Carcassonne and the children try to round them up before dusk.
Gameplay: Players take turns drawing and placing landscape tiles; unlike classic Carcassonne, tiles are designed so placements always fit, reducing frustration for young players. Tiles depict roads with colored children icons; when a road is completed, players place their wooden “children” (meeples) on the matching pictures. The first player to place all of their pieces wins. This junior edition focuses on simple pattern/route completion and does not require point counting, making it ideal for preschool/early elementary families.
