1st & Goal is a sports-themed football board game that recreates the feel of an American football gridiron match using cards and custom dice. Two opposing teams face off on a large magnetic football field board, with players acting as coaches who select offensive and defensive plays from the cards in their hands. After both sides secretly choose their cards, the outcome of the play is resolved by rolling specialized dice that determine yardage gained or lost. Different offensive choices—runs, short passes, long bombs, and more—interact with defensive formations, rewarding clever play-calling and anticipation of your opponent’s strategy. The right offensive call against a poorly prepared defense can break the game open with big yardage, while a well-timed defensive scheme can stuff the run, force an interception, or deliver a devastating sack. The game includes seven team dice, multiple play dice (running, passing, defense, referee, and penalty dice), a magnetic football and 1st down marker, score and timeout tokens, and complete rules. Designed for head-to-head or team-based play with up to four participants, 1st & Goal emphasizes tactical decision-making, probability management, and push-your-luck excitement. Fumbles, penalties, interceptions, sacks, deep passes, breakaway runs, and dramatic goal-line stands are all represented through the card-and-dice system. The base game can be expanded with multiple divisional team expansions that introduce customized team dice and support season-style league play culminating in a championship 1st & Goal Bowl.
