Title:

Maj Jong

Description:
A tile game where players build up sets or groupings of suits or designs.
The players are dealt 13 tiles at the start of the game (first to play has 14 tiles). The first to play discards a tile, and play continues clockwise, where players in turn pick up a tile and then discard one.
The object of the game is to ‘mah-jong’ by collecting sets of three or more suits and designs and dropping these down.
The first player to complete his hand by dropping all his tiles calls ‘mah-jong’, and the hand ends. The players’ scores are calculated at the end of each hand.
A complete game consists of 10 rounds.
The complexity of Mah-Jong stems in part from the layout of the tiles on the table, where a four sided wall is built using the tiles, each player building one side of the wall in-front of them 18 tiles long and two high. Dice are used principally to identify where the wall should be breached; tiles are distributed and picked up during the game from this breached section.
