Title:

1 Original Green Uno Card Set

Description:
from the original 5,000 decks first produced by Merle Robbins in 1971. Those decks have a pea soup green, or khaki/olive green backing, with no registered trademark/etc on the card. They are from the original batch by the creator, Merle Robbins, before he sold the rights to Robert Tezak and Ed Akeman of Joliet, Illinois, who created International Games Inc. of Joliet and marketed UNO with a new color backing (the black and red style most people recognize).

The story behind this particular deck (and others like it): Apparently Merle Robbins and family set out to print 5,000 decks (like this one), to begin selling their game of UNO they invented. They started to sell out of Robbin’s barbershop in Ohio, and then spread locally as word caught on ... till they made their way to Tezak and Akeman in Joliet, Illinois, who bought the rights from the Robbins along with their original stock. Once the original green stock was worked through, IGI of Joliet changed the color to the more familiar red/black backing that the world knows today and re-worked parts of the game, launching it into the mega hit it has become.
