Carcassonne is a famous French city known for its imposing fortifications erected during Antiquity and the Middle Ages. In this game, players must develop the area around Carcassonne. They will lay tiles and place their followers onto roads and into cities, monasteries and fields. Only those who make the most judicious placements will gain the points required to win the game. Build prestige, power and dominance in your quest to claim victory in Carcassonne. Followers may become a thief, a knight or a farmer. One their turn players may lay one tile from their hand and optionally add a wooden meeple to score points. The amount of road, field, or land group determines points scored on a given turn. Option to add 9 or more game expansions.
Inns & Cathedrals: In this first expansion fir Carcassonne, the Cathedral triples the value of a city and the Inn doubles the value of a road but only when they are completed. Players may use the new large follower to double their chances of controlling a city, road, or field. You need to have the Carcassonne game in order to use this expansion.
Traders & Builders: In this second expansion for Carcassonne, you can now build faster than ever before and score even more points by trading goods and nurturing a pig. The new Builder meeples allow you to place more tiles in a single turn when placed on one of your roads or cities. Pigs make fields that much more worthwhile.
Hills & Sheep: the patient shepherd had gathered a mighty flock as he tends his fields. But be careful, if a Shepherd should encounter a wolf, all of his hard work will have been for naught. A follower on a hill can sway a decision in your favor, and the monks are utterly delighted by the offerings of the local vineyards.
The River: You can use the 12 River tiles to start a Carcassonne game instead of the normal start tile.
The Wheel of Fortune: at times, life in Carcassonne can be rather mysterious. The prevalence of storms, pestilence, and famine are unfortunate facts of life. And yet, if you find yourself in the right place at the right time, Fortune may smile upon you. Can be played as a stand-alone game or used as an expansion.
