Title:
The Battle Of Shiloh
Description:
The Battle of Shiloh: Grant vs. Johnston is a highly accurate simulation of the Civil War’s most famous battle in the West, designed for fast-moving. easy play, easily learned
The Battle of Shiloh is closely balanced, with each player, able to win with his own wits. The forces of both players are stretched to the breaking point — where leadership makes the final difference.
Indeed, victory in Shiloh will go to the player who better uses the skills of his army commander. A.S. Johnston has a special ability to inspire his men to attack, while Grant’s special knack is for rallying his own hard-pressed troops. The Southern player must choose between continuing to press an all-out attack, which may burn out his army too early in the day, and pausing more frequently to regroup his units, in which case he may not be able to reach his objectives in time, The Northern player, meanwhile, must skillfully counter-attack in order to upset the Rebel plans
The game uses the sleek South Mountain tactical system which emphasizes cohesion: lost in battle, regained behind the lines. Easy-to-learn rules simulate fire and melee combat and devastating flank attacks, while the need to pull out and regroup evokes the best of the players’ tactical skills. For The Battle of Shiloh, the system has been modified and improved to fit the Shiloh battle situation,
