The young boy Garion lived on Faldor’s farm with his Aunt Pol in the country of Sendaria. Garion’s life was typical for any child living in the country. One day a new hand arrives at Faldor’s and Garion’s life changes forever. The Old Storyteller returns at Erastide and Garion catches the new hand eavesdropping on a conversation between the Old Wolf and Aunt Pol.
Now, Garion, Aunt Pol, and the Old Wolf must leave and Durnik the blacksmith goes along to provide protection. On the road they meet Silk and Barak and together they travel from northern Sendaria to southern Sendaria, looking for something.
In the town of Muros, they are “arrested” and escorted to see the king of Sendaria. From there they travel to Val Alorn of Cherek and Garion learns of the theft of Aldur’s Orb and what it means.
