It was approximately a year ago when I bought this book and was thus amazed when i stubled upon this review to see that no one had written a review about it, and thus not received the acclaim that it rightly deserves.
Once again John and Anne Spencer have written a most thought provoking and well reserched follow up to Volume 1. Once again, Volume 2 provides a wealth of information on all things that go ”bump in the night”, but what makes this, as well as Volume 1 special is that they report on the incidents very matter of factly. They also explain the history surrounding the hauting which makes for very poetic reading.
I have always enjoyed the scientific, and non-dramatised way that John and Anne Spencer, as well as Peter Underwood and Harry Ludlum have presented their cases. They have never tried to convince you that ghosts are real.They just present the facts and the history without the sense of self-importance that some writers have done (much to my annoyance). They have all left it up to the reader to conduct their own investigations, gather their own proof to decide whether ghosts are real or not - and as a sceptic I am grateful for that.
So, full marks go to John and Anne Spencer for a very well detailed, informative and open minded book that does not seek glory of some kind for themselves. I would definately recommend this book to anyone with an interest in ghosts for its proffesional approach that will appeal to sceptics and beleivers alike.
