Synopsis:
Chester is a dissatisfied farm pig who resents the idea of ending up as nothing more than food. Determined to become something more, he dreams of joining a circus and becoming a performer instead of pork chops. Chester works tirelessly to develop an unusual talent—he can balance on a fence post and perform acrobatic tricks—and eventually sets off to find a circus that will take him.
The road to stardom, however, turns out to be far harder than Chester imagined. He is captured, sold, and pushed from one difficult situation to another. When he finally reaches the circus, his efforts are misunderstood and he is treated as a lowly clown’s prop rather than a star performer. Disillusioned and discouraged, Chester escapes and wanders through a series of dangerous and comic misadventures, narrowly avoiding becoming someone’s dinner more than once.
At last he gives up on fame and resigns himself to an ordinary pig’s life back on a farm. By sheer chance, a showman notices the pattern of spots on Chester’s hide and realizes that they form a detailed map of the world. This unexpected discovery makes Chester famous as the “worldly pig,” not for the tricks he practiced so hard but for the unique markings he was born with. In the end, Chester achieves the recognition he longed for and learns that his individuality and ‘worldliness’ were in him all along.
