Title:
2018 Canadian Gold Maple Leaf
Description:
Obverse
Like most of the Royal Canadian Mint’s coins, the obverse of the Gold Maple features a profile view of Queen Elizabeth II. You’ll also find inscriptions of “ELIZABETH II,” “5 DOLLARS,” and “2018.”
Reverse
The focal point of the reverse is Canada’s signature maple leaf, sculpted with intricate detail. Next to the leaf’s stem, you’ll notice a small maple leaf-shaped privy mark laser engraved with the coin’s year of issue. The RCM added the privy mark to the annually released coin in 2014 to help prevent counterfeiting. Inscriptions include “CANADA,” along with the coin’s purity and weight.
