Obverse: The Great Eagle sits at the top of The World Tree where it can look out over the world and watch for signs of danger. Included within the design are a falcon on the eagle’s head and a squirrel on the branches beneath its talons. This hawk, known as Vedfolner sits between the eyes of the Great Eagle and helps improve its vision out over the world. Ratatosk, the squirrel on the branches beneath, is a messenger of sorts who runs the length of the World Tree from its very top where the Great Eagle resides to the very bottom where the dragon known as Nidhogger resides.
