Spock was born in 2230 on the planet Vulcan to Vulcan ambassador Sarek, and Amanda Grayson, a human teacher. Spock initially served as a Starfleet officer for several decades before going on to become a Federation ambassador.
The coin is struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s reverse portrays a colour image of the actor Leonard Nimoy (1931 – 2015) giving the Vulcan salute as Spock as he appeared in Star Trek, against a representation of the IDIC Vulcan symbol and the inscription SPOCK. The design also includes The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark, and the coin’s weight and fineness.
The coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu and the 2015 year-date.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 5,000 of the 2015 Star Trek: The Original Series – Spock 1oz Silver Proof Coin.
The coin is presented in a Star Trek inspired display case and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
