Queensland Police Rugby Union Club
In 2022 the Queensland Police Rugby Union Club struck a Challenge Coin for Police Service competitors at the Australian Police Rugby Union (APRU) Championships. A small number of these coins have previously been sold to members of the QPS.
In June 2024 the QPRU will be competing in the APRU Championships in Darwin and aiming for their third consecutive premiership.
The club is self funded and the trip is financed largely through fund-raising and player contribution. To help reduce the costs to players it has been decided that the remaining QPRU challenge coins will be released for sale with all funds raised used to assist in funding for the 2024 APRU Championship.
Coin Design – The front face of the challenge coin features the QPRU Cassowary. The Cassowary has been chosen as the club emblem as it is a bird native to Queensland and known to be fiercely defensive and protective – Values that align with both our service as Police Officers and in Rugby.
The reverse side of the coin features the QPS emblem as it appears on the QPS flag.
The coin is for sale for $20.00 to service members.
