I know this is a lot to take in. I’ve tried to make it as easy as possible to get the value out of what I have saved up. When I was in my late teens early twenties I thought about starting this type of collection, and I didn’t. I thought about it a few more times over the years and didn’t. After I was diagnosed with cancer, while I was in the hospital recovering from surgery I thought about it again, and told myself the time is now. At the time I thought, sure I have a 401K, but what if when I pass if the 401k is still there, what if the stock market is in a current low? A lot of value would be lost. I have a desire to be able to financially help some people after I’m gone. How can I do that most effectively? The answer is gold and silver. They are a perfect storage of wealth. They are a volatile commodity, but they tend to trend with the value of the dollar. For an example there are coins that are money of the United States that are made of silver. Most older coins in the US made before 1965, so 1964 and older are 90% silver. Most older nickels are not silver. In this collection there are dimes for instance. These dimes at the time I wrote this are worth 2 dollars each. (Oct. 2024) Even though it’s a dime (10¢) it has silver in it that is worth $2. You’ll find many tubes full dime. There’s 50 dimes in a tube, so as of writing this, one tube is worth $100. Newer US coins don’t have silver in them anymore. There is all kinds of gold and silver in the safe. This catalog accounts for every single piece.
The people who I have designated boxes to are very important to me and one of my last wishes is that Stella Blue would hand deliver the boxes to these people. You could send them a letter in advance and schedule a time you can visit them, even for just a little bit of time, so you can talk to them. Get to know them a little. Maybe hear a couple stories, and tell them a couple stories of your own. Sarah knows each of them personally already, and I’m sure would also help coordinate something for each of them, or maybe even a group thing so you can do it all at once. These are people who knew about you when you were still in mom’s belly and have loved you since the day they found out you were going to be born. If you can do a group thing I’m sure it would be a lot of fun for you and everyone there. If a group thing can be put together use some of the collection to pay for a place that everyone with their family can fit, and food and drinks for everyone. Get as extravagant as you want with it, have fun seeing a side you never got to see. These people shaped me. These are the people I left to be closer to you. You always shy’d away from going with me to meet them. You deserve to meet them, but I could never bring myself to force you.
Stella Blue, you are my pride and joy. Words could never express how much I love you. I know we’ve had a strange life. I know it wasn’t easy for you. The first time I got diagnosed with cancer, the first thought I had was you. It continually ran through my head, while I was going through treatment that if I can’t beat this, there is nothing for my Blue. You know I was collecting for you from when you graduated High School and I gave you 18 ounces of silver. We went to Capitol Coin and they made you an offer. I then told you that you could either take the money, or say I want you (me) to keep it safe for me, and if I ever really really need some money I’ll come back so I don’t just waste it on something I don’t really need. That was my way of seeing if I could get you to start collecting gold and silver too. At that time I had a pretty good size collection already. It had a value of about $30,000. Today I’m hoping you could buy a house with what’s inside. You might even be able to sell it directly to a bank for a house if that’s what you wanted to do with it. I know you want nothing from me, but I don’t care. Use it as you need it, or pass it down to your kids. All I can suggest is do not sell your box as a whole collection for less than $20,000. If you can not get at least that, then prices are down too much and you should hold on to it until prices go back up. You should get a lot more than that. Could take weeks, months, or years depending on a lot of variables in the economy if the prices are down. All of the documents are in this catalog as well, so if you need a specific document you can click on it in this catalog and it will tell you what binder the document can be found in, and what page in the binder the document is located. For instance if you need my social security number for something, you can go to this catalog and click on Social Security Number, and it will show you a picture of it, if you just need the number. But, it will also tell you what binder the card is in and what page you’ll find the card in that binder. So if you need the physical Social Security Card for some reason you can easily find it.

Decide if you want to keep it or sell it, and if you are going to sell it, go to Capitol Coin first, they will give you the most anywhere around southern Indiana area. They already know I have a large collection, and that someday someone might come in to try and sell a part of it or all of it.
