Description:
Royal Mint (Tower Hill) London UK(1810-1975)
Royal Mint Llantrisant UK (1968-date)
Shah Alam Mint Malaysia

The Parliament 1971 one ringgit coin is the first cupronickel issued for Malaysia. All three mints above were involved with the mintage of 2,378,995, the Royal Mint responsible for the first 500,000 coins. There are subtle differences between the UK and Malaysia minted coins.

The UK cpins exhibit better strikes on the details in the fields with more appealing lustre. Malaysian coins have less attractive lustre.

For the edge-letterings, UK coins have very neat, clear and clean u-shade Incused grooves. The letter-M has a longer center-V that extend to the edge, while the letter-S is taller. Malaysian coins usually have thinner lettered-edge wordings. The letter-M have a shorter center-V while the letter-S is shorter.
