Description:
Circulating Eisenhower dollar coin dated 1972 from the United States Mint. The obverse shows a left-facing portrait of President Dwight D. Eisenhower with the inscriptions ”LIBERTY” arching above, ”IN GOD WE TRUST” in two lines at the lower left, and the date ”1972” at the bottom. The reverse depicts a bald eagle landing on the surface of the Moon, clutching an olive branch, adapted from the Apollo 11 mission insignia. Around the reverse are the legends ”UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and ”ONE DOLLAR” with the motto ”E PLURIBUS UNUM” above the eagle and a small depiction of the Earth in the background among stars. This is a large-size clad dollar coin struck for general circulation in the early 1970s.
