Obverse (front) of a United States Winged Liberty Head dime (commonly called a “Mercury dime”). The design shows Liberty facing left wearing a winged cap (wings symbolizing liberty of thought). Legends visible: “LIBERTY” around the rim and “IN GOD WE TRUST” at lower left. Date visible at lower right: 1941. A small monogram/initials (AW) appear near the right side of Liberty’s neck/truncation area (designer’s mark). Coin appears circulated with medium-to-heavy wear and dark gray toning typical of aged 90% silver U.S. coinage. This photo shows the obverse only; no mintmark can be confirmed from this side (mintmark for this type is on the reverse). Standard type specs for Mercury dime: 90% silver / 10% copper composition, reeded edge, about 17.9 mm diameter and 2.50 g weight.
