Title:

Victoria Halfpenny

Description:
Coin appears to be a United Kingdom (Great Britain) pre-decimal bronze Halfpenny dated 1890. Reverse shows Britannia seated facing right, wearing a helmet, holding a trident upright in right hand; left hand resting on a shield. Around the rim the legend reads ’HALF PENNY’ (letters spaced around the upper perimeter). In the exergue at bottom the date ’1890’ is clearly visible. Coin shows heavy circulation wear and dark toning/oxidation with surface marks; beaded/toothed border visible near rim. Likely the Victorian ’bun head’ (laureate bust) type on the obverse (not shown in the provided image). Typical specifications for this issue: bronze composition, plain edge, ~25.4–25.5 mm diameter, ~5.7 g weight; London mint; mintage about 11,254,235 for 1890 circulation strikes.
