This coin features the uncrowned portrait of King George V (reigned 1910 - 1936) facing left on one side and a crowned lion passant atop a crown with the date divided by the design. From 1920 to 1926 these coins were struck in .500 fine silver (50% silver). This was a change from the previous sterling silver standard (.925 fine). 1921 shilling coin remained legal tender for 69 years. The 1921 half crown was the largest silver coin struck for general circulation year. The inscription around the head reads: George V, by the grace of God, King of all the Britons.
