Title:

Louisiana State Quarter

Description:
United States 50 State Quarters Program coin (reverse shown). Reverse design depicts the Louisiana Purchase territory highlighted on a map of the United States, a trumpet with musical notes (jazz heritage), and a brown pelican (Louisiana state bird). Visible inscriptions on reverse include: ”LOUISIANA PURCHASE” (faint but present near upper left), ”E PLURIBUS UNUM” along the lower rim, and the date ”2002” centered near the bottom. The top rim would normally read ”LOUISIANA” and show the statehood date ”1812” (not clearly legible in this photo but part of the standard reverse design). Coin appears to be standard circulating clad quarter-dollar with reeded edge.
