Reverse shows a large American bison/buffalo standing on a ground line, facing right, with three sunflowers at left. Legends on reverse: ”KANSAS” at top with statehood year ”1861” beneath it; along bottom ”2005” and ”E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Obverse (Washington bust) shows ”UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” around top, ”LIBERTY” at left, motto ”IN GOD WE TRUST” to the right of Washington’s portrait, and ”QUARTER DOLLAR” along bottom. Coin appears to be standard clad circulation strike (copper-nickel clad copper) with reeded edge; typical specs for the issue are 5.670 g weight and 24.26 mm diameter. Kansas was the 34th state quarter released (2005).
