Title:
Washington Quarter
Description:
United States Washington Quarter (Quarter Dollar), regular circulation strike, dated 1987 with Denver mint mark ”D” visible on the obverse to the right of Washington’s neck (behind the ribbon/ponytail tie area). Obverse design shows a left-facing bust of George Washington with the legends ”LIBERTY” at top and ”IN GOD WE TRUST” at left; date ”1987” at bottom. Reverse is the pre-1999 Washington quarter eagle reverse: a heraldic bald eagle with wings spread, perched on a bundle of arrows above olive branches, with legends ”UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” around top, ”E PLURIBUS UNUM” above the eagle, and ”QUARTER DOLLAR” at bottom. Coin appears copper-nickel clad (silver-gray surfaces) with circulation wear and contact marks; reeded edge typical of Washington quarters. Standard clad composition for this era is copper-nickel clad over a pure copper core.
