Municipal trade token / local coin from the City of London, Ontario, Canada, issued for the Bicentennial of the City of London (1793–1993). One side shows a right-facing portrait of John Graves Simcoe with text ’CITY OF LONDON CANADA’ and ’JOHN GRAVES SIMCOE’ plus the dates ’1793-1993’ (coin commemorates the 1793 siting/founding of London by Simcoe). The other side depicts the London District Courthouse (built 1829) with surrounding legend ’CITY OF LONDON CANADA’ and denomination ’TWO DOLLARS’, and includes an expiry statement ’EXPIRES SEPTEMBER 10 1993’. The coin in the photo is shown in a 2x2 stapled cardboard coin holder with handwritten notes ’1993’ and ’LONDON’.
