Canadian 1 Dollar (”Voyageur dollar”) dated 1966. Obverse shows a right-facing crowned portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with legend ”ELIZABETH II D.G. REGINA” around. Reverse shows two voyageurs/figures paddling a canoe with an island behind; vertical lines in the background represent the Northern Lights (aurora). Legends: ”CANADA” at top, ”DOLLAR” at bottom, date ”1966” below the canoe. This is the large-diameter silver issue of the Canadian Voyageur dollar series (pre-1968), typically 80% silver and 20% copper, reeded/milled edge. The reverse designer initials ”EH” may appear beneath/near the canoe on some strikes (not clearly visible in the provided photos).
