Monnaie de Paris is celebrating two anniversaries this year, and this beautiful silver coin celebrates both. It is the 40th anniversary of its current production site at Pessac near Bordeaux and the transformation of its historic factory in Paris.
The obverse features a representation of Sower by Oscar Roty, and the 12 stars representing the founding countries of the euro zone appear along the edge of the coin. The reverse is a combination of four coins inspired by the sites of Pessac and Paris. On the top and right hand sides appears the footbridge of the Pessac factory, overlooking the machinery for the production of currencies. The bottom and left hand sides of the coin feature the Paris site.
