Kennedy with legends ”LIBERTY” around the rim, ”IN GOD” to the left and ”WE TRUST” to the right, and the date ”1966” at the bottom. This is a Special Mint Set (SMS) strike (1965–1967 era), typically with a satin-like finish and sharper strike than normal circulation issues. The 1966 Kennedy half dollar from Special Mint Sets is a 40% silver clad composition (outer layers 80% silver/20% copper bonded to a 79% copper/21% silver core), reeded edge, standard diameter about 30.6 mm, and standard weight about 11.50 g (commonly cited 11.34 g for 40% silver half dollars; many collector sources list 11.50 g for SMS listings).
