Title:

Superman/Batman

Synopsis:
”Protege”

Superboy and Robin are at the Titans Tower in San Fransisco, awaiting their orders from Batman and Superman. When Batman and Superman arrive, they give them the orders to confront the new Toyman, a thirteen year-old boy, and get him to work for the Batman. Superboy does not take this order seriously. He believes it will not be difficult to convince Hiro, but Batman assures him it will be. Superman and Robin discuss a possible visit to him in Metropolis, which Robin seems reluctant to do.

They arrive at Hiro’s residence, only to find genius inventions. Even at the low age of 13, Hiro’s IQ is 210. They find Hiro, but are distracted by inventions both evil and childish, such as a hologram, and the dangerous copy of Metallo. Superboy goes after Metallo, but leaves before Hiro can warn him that there is still Kryptonite in his chest.

To defeat Metallo, Superboy and Robin enter a suit which will enhance their powers and protect them from the Kryptonite. In the suit Superboy easily overpowers Metallo and defeats him, but also destroying the road they were on. Superman and Batman are present, and comment on the possibility of casualties and why they need to be more careful. But regardless, they congratulate them on a successful mission.

Hiro agrees to work for Batman only if he is happy and things are done his way. Batman agrees with no argument. Meanwhile, Superman feels that Superboy is hiding something, but he doesn’t know what. Batman says he should confront him directly now, but Superman says that Conner will tell him when he’s ready. After, Robin and Superboy talk about whether or not to tell Superman that Conner is half a clone of Superman and half a clone of Lex Luthor, and Superboy does not. This is followed by Robin calling Superboy a ”wuss.”
