Title:
Superman
Synopsis:
"Son Of Superman"
part 3
Superman has taken Lois and Jon to the Fortress of Solitude to find a way to treat Jon’s recent power fluctuations. Since Superman’s mountain fortress lacks the Kryptonian technology necessary to check on Jon, the original Fortress is the ideal choice. Once inside, the Kents come across the Eradicator tending to Krypton. Superman confronts the Eradicator while Jon awakens. The Eradicator claims to be able to save Krypton, but Superman refuses to believe him. The fight breaks a crystal pillar, which threatens to crush Lois and Jon, but the Eradicator saves them. This convinces Superman to stop fighting, at least for now.
Superman places Jon on a medical capsule that scans his body. Apparently, Jon’s powers are in a state of inconsistency because his body is still adapting to the combined genomes he inherited from his parents. Also, Superman asks the Eradicator how did he get to Earth and why is he wearing the House of El symbol, and the Eradicator answers he assimilated images from Superman’s personal belongings. He belongs to a series of robots created by General Zod to hunt down lawbreakers, extract their life force and put them in the Phantom Zone to await trial while their bodies were put in cryogenic suspension.
While returning to Krypton from a mission in deep space, the Eradicator bore witness to Krypton’s destruction. The explosion released organic matter that coated the Eradicator, wiping away all mechanical vestiges on his system and giving him a non-descript humanoid shape. Although Krypton was destroyed, the Eradicator caught a glimpse of Superman’s escape ship and set out to follow it all over the galaxy, as per his protocol of finding survivor. Eventually, the Eradicator found Superman in the Sol system.
Also, the Eradicator had discovered Superman has a son; however, Jon is partly human, and the way the Eradicator sees it, he does not qualify as a pure-blooded Kryptonian. Therefore, he wants to bolster his Kryptonian genome by subsuming his human one. He attempts to swallow up Jon, but Krypto jumps between the two and gets swallowed instead. Angry, Superman attacks the Eradicator again; while Jon, saddened by Krypto’s sacrifice, grabs his cape, his eyes burning with heat vision.
