Title:
Ghost Rider (90s)
Synopsis:
Part 3 of 4 - "Changes!”
Guest-starring Spider-Man. NOTE: This story picks up after the events of Spider-Man (1990) #7. Recent events have pushed the Ghost Rider, especially his host Danny Ketch, to his limits. So, can a weakened Rider and Johnny Blaze stop the mad Hobgoblin? Over Spider-Mans dead body. But why would Spidey stand in their way? The answer may surprise you.
Ghost Rider crashes and transforms into Dan before passing out. Dan wakes up in a hospital, learning Blaze brought him there and saved his life. After a week Dan is discharged, and Blaze, who is staying around until he can figure out if the Ghost Rider is Zarathos, agrees to teach Dan how to look after himself if an enemy attacks in Ghost Rider’s absence, spending the next few weeks showing him how to fight and to fix motorcycles. One day, they see Dan’s mother being picked up in a limo for church. Finding this strange, Dan and Blaze follow the limo to an abandoned church. Sneaking in, they witness Reverend Styge promise Dan’s desperate mother that he can bring Barbara back, causing Dan to inadvertently react out loud, blowing their cover, and Styge’s men capture them. Styge leaves, ordering the intruder’s deaths, but Blaze and Dan fight their way free of Styge’s men just as Hobgoblin crashes into the church intending to cleanse the sinners within. Remembering their last encounter, Dan transforms and goes after Hobgoblin but an arriving Spider-Man intervenes, fearing he will kill Hobgoblin. Seeing a terrified Francis praying, Hobgoblin concludes God wants him to save her; he snatches her and flees. Ghost Rider pursues, while Spidey and Blaze join up to stop them.
