Guest-starring Hawkeye and Two-Gun Kid. The Spirit of Vengeance pits his supernatural powers against the menacing might of the monstrous Manticore!
Johnny Blaze roams the Mojave Desert and beats local biker Brahma Bill in a motorcycle race. When his engine fails Johnny eventually finds the nearby Cheery-O’s Dude Ranch. Johnny meets ranch hands Clint Barton and Matt Hawk, secretly Avengers reservists Hawkeye and Two-Gun Kid. Matt quickly befriends Johnny and arranges for repairs and lodging. Johnny starts teaching Matt motorcycle riding and Hawkeye considers returning to the Avengers. He tries on his costume just before Manticore abducts him. Manticore explains that he’s been hired to kill an Avenger as part of a scheme to steal Avengers reservist Hellcat’s super-suit. Ghost Rider and Two-Gun Kid ride to the rescue, but Manticore overpowers Two-Gun and takes him hostage. Ghost Rider tries to bluff the criminal by claiming he cares only for vengeance upon the wicked. Hawkeye uses this distraction to cripple Manticore’s armor with a high-tech arrow. Reverting to Johnny, Blaze notices that Hawkeye and Two-Gun are less friendly now, realizing his ruthless "demon act” may have been a bit too convincing.
