The Avengers, Nick Fury and SHIELD respond to the security breach at the Black Hole, where Ghost Rider thwarts Spooks attempt to flood the chamber he is in with lethal radiation by damaging the walls so that the base computer stops the countdown lest other areas become contaminated. In his control room, Spook’s lack of fear confuses Scarecrow, and the director convinces Scarecrow they should join forces against Ghost Rider. Breaking into the facility, the Avengers overpower freed inmates Dread and Rak. To protect his secrets, Spook activates the fail safe countdown of the Black Hoe’s nuclear core, leaving Scarecrow to guard the core control room. An automated alert warns the Avengers to evacuate, but Fury and the Black Widow head into the facility city, hoping to stop the detonation. Ghost Rider encounters Skinner, who has captured Mr. Wright is pursuing Dr. Keene the Lin threatens to kill them both, but Ghost Rider flays the skin from the Lilin’s skeletal form and gives him the penance stare, though it partially backfires, inflicting the pain suffered by Skinner’s victims on both of them. Leaving Skinner behind, Ghost Rider gives Keene and Wright a ride on his bike, intending to carry them to sety On the we encounters Fury and Black Widow batting Scarecrow outside the nuclear core control room Telling Fury to stand aside Ghost Rider attacks Scarecrow.
