Fracis awakens from a nightmare of something bursting up from Barbara’s grave. In the roof of a hospital in Atlantic City, Ghost Rider ponders over the vision of the woman being burned that he saw when Vengeance used his penance stare on him. Blaze comes up, and at his urging Ghost Rider switches places with Dan, so that his human host can spend time with the Dolans. Downstairs Stacy waits by her father’s bedside, as he lies unconscious at death’s door victim of a heart attack triggered by recent events. Ski and Maloni have also been standing vigil, but Stacy’s obvious relief at Dan’s arrival visibly upsets Ski, and they depart Suddenly, Dan is hit by a memory of the woman being burned at the stake by an angry mob, then a vision of a little boy trying to console him by pointing out he isn’t the only one to blame. Dan passes out, and the doctors find he has a fever despite his body temperature being normal Deciding Dan needs a different kind of doctor, Blaze takes him back to New York to see Dr. Strange. Strange’s conjurations let them all see the vision haunting Dan, and the sorcerer explains that Dan’s Spirit of Vengeance was once human; Vengeance’s penance stare is unraveling a memory binding spell, and the memory leak threatens to kill Dan Meanwhile, in his Hell domain Blackheart oversees the birth of a new female demon. On Earth, Strange takes Blaze and Dan to Jennifer Kale, who agrees to help in return for a favor, then mystically triggers Dan’s transformation into Ghost Rider and begins unlocking his memories, revealing the Spirits original name: Noble Kale. Suddenly a brilliant flash binds them. Meanwhile, in the void, Ketch is confronted by the Furies.
