Title:

The Avengers

Synopsis:
Continuing from last issue... The Kree-Skrull War Part Vll

We follow Triton as the Inhuman emerges from the Hudson River and races through the city towards Avengers Mansion. On his way Triton is met with a mob of angry citizens as well as hostile police officers who hunt him in the street, the sewers providing him his only means of escape. When Triton reemerged from the sewers he finds himself near the perimeter of Avenger’s Mansion where S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are equipped within Mandroid Armor and are fighting against the Avengers.

At first it would appear as if the Avengers were going to be defeated by the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., however after rerouting the energy from his own power pods into the Mandroid Armor, Iron Man was able to force the opposing battle suits to shut down. H. Warren Craddock the man who ordered the agents to arrest the Avengers after it was believed they were harboring the Kree, Captain Marvel, was not pleased.

After the battle the Avengers spoke with Triton who explained that he originally intended to seek out the Fantastic Four but stumbled upon the Avengers by chance. In need of any aid he could get Triton asked the Avengers to assist him in retrieving his King, Black Bolt, after he had been exiled to San Francisco. He goes on to explain that the king’s brother, the insane Maximus had taken over the Hidden City of the Inhumans and their help would be needed in over throwing him.

The Vision is against the idea of helping the Inhumans while their fellow Avengers are being held prisoner by the Skrulls in space, while Iron Man believes its their duty to help the Inhumans. In the end it is decided that the Avengers will split into two teams to accomplish their goals. One team complied of Captain America, Goliath, and Rick Jones would travel to San Francisco with Triton to aid the Inhumans, while the other team consisting of Thor, and Iron Man would join the Vision in space to search for the Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Captain Marvel.

Back in San Francisco, Black Bolt and his friend Joey are pinned down in a dilapidated structure while a street gang hoping to exploit Black Bolt’s abilities pursue them. Just as the scuffle begins Joey is taken hostage by the gang’s leader but not for long as Captain America throws his shield which bounces off the wall of the building, taking out the crook before he can shoot. After the skirmish Black Bolt is in a hurry to head back to Attilan to stop his mad brother Maximus and so he and the Avengers board the Quinjet and fly there.

During the flight Black Bolt thinks back to a time when Maximus was doing a shady galactic deal with the Kree that would have the Inhumans be their regents when they took over the Earth for the Kree empire. Black Bolt who had a hunch sprung into action and using the power of his incredible voice causes a Kree ship to crash, sadly the crash would cause the death of Blackagar and Maximus’ parents, causing Maximus’ mind to snap with madness.

Meanwhile back at Avenger’s Mansion in New York the other group was still in the midst of fighting off the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents present at the building before ultimately deciding that it was for the best that they to travel to Attilan instead of heading towards the stars. Upon arriving outside the Great Refuge they were stopped by a large black dome it wasn’t until the other team of Avengers arrived that Black Bolt was able to shatter it with his voice.

Once the barrier was destroyed the Avengers find an Inhuman war party in waiting with their minds compromised by Maximus’ powers, after a quick battle and some words from Black Bolt the Inhumans lay down their arms. Upon making their way to the royal chamber the Avengers witness Maximus making yet another deal with the Kree. The Avengers battle with Maximus and the Kree and Maximus is dethroned and Black Bolt resumes his place as the rightful leader of the Inhumans, however during the battle the Kree man escaped and he took Rick Jones with him. Maximus reverts back to his maddening self while the Avengers vow to travel into space to rescue their captured comrades and stop the Kree and the Skrulls.
