At the Secret Avengers’ Roving HQ, Sharon Carter recovers from being knocked out by members of the Shadow Council in issue #1 and establishes contact with Ant-Man, who was sucked through a portal on Mars and ended up at the Shadow Council Citadel in Texas. While there, Ant-Man observes soldiers wearing suits equipped with nuclear bombs heading into the portal to stop the Secret Avengers.
On Mars, Steve Rogers dons Nova’s helmet, accepts the Nova force, and battles a still-possessed Nova as the rest of the team fights the tentacled being awakened by the Shadow Council’s digging. After following the soldiers into the portal on the Texas side, Ant-Man fires off a wasp sting at the nuke-equipped soldiers and causes the suits to detonate while in the portal. He barely escapes into the Mars side, but the blast impacts both sides of the portal. On the Texas side, the Shadow Council Citadel collapses. On the Mars side, the blast destroys the portal link, and Rogers rips the Thorned Crown off Nova’s head. Rogers returns the crown to the Archon, Nova slowly recovers without any recollection of what happened, and Rogers returns Nova’s helmet.
Back at the Roving HQ, Rogers informs Carter that Nova was called away and will not be available for the next mission. Carter then tells Rogers that they have some big problems on Earth as she patches a video feed through to Rogers that shows what appears to be Nick Fury emerging from the destroyed Shadow Council’s Citadel in Texas.
