Synopsis:
Old Wounds, New Battles, Part 2.
Wolverine is taken to sickbay, while the X-Men and the Imperial Guard, backed up by the Exiles, are transported to the Blue Area on the Moon to battle over Phoenix. One by one, the X-Men are defeated, and finally Phoenix despairs and gives in to the dark side, causing her transformation into Dark Phoenix. Cyclops is killed in the process, and with her lover gone, there is nothing that reminds Jean of her humanity anymore. The X-Men and the Exiles try to fight her, Mimic even copies half her power, but she seems to win. In the end, she is defeated by Angel taking Wolverine airborne. Phoenix expects their attack, but Blink teleports them in the last instant behind Phoenix, and Wolverine’s claws stab her in the back. Upon dying, Jean releases her energies, taking out some of her former teammates. The Exiles have succeeded in their mission to kill Phoenix, though at the cost of most of the X-Men. The Tallus teleports the team away.
