Synopsis:
Nate’s soul has left his body, which lies trapped in a warehouse full of the lethal Coldsnap-9. Havok and Fatale are unable to get to Nate’s body to rescue him. They make their escape and, in doing so, receive a holographic communication from the Dark Beast, who reports that Nate Grey will die. Fatale suggests to Havok that he best decide what is going on with this Brotherhood.
Nate’s soul talks about his life, while his body slowly wakes, although he realizes he is dying. Nate’s body starts to see visions of people from his life - Threnody, Forge from his home reality, and Madelyne Pryor. Nate’s body and soul eventually reunite, and in a spectacular display, his powers explode upwards, freeing him from the factory.
He finds himself in Washington Square Park, where civilians stare at him. He collapses in some bushes, and three young women stand over him.
Meanwhile, a “Jane Doe” escapes from a morgue, and the dead seem to follow her. And, at Nate’s loft in SoHo, a young boy called Roust arrives, while shadows reach out for him. He is in desperate need of finding Nate Grey.
