Title:
Iron Man 186
Synopsis:
Synopsis for ”Though This Fault Be Mine...”
Rhodes, the Erwin siblings, and Tony Stark are surveying the location of the future headquarters of their new business and are startled by a sudden earthquake but brush it off as nothing of concern.
Some distance away, an oil magnate named Franklin Fortney has hired a team to explore for oil at a location over the San Andreas Fault. His team includes Alton Vibereaux, a geology professor who has invented a machine with which to measure holes underground. He’s hesitant due to the proximity of the fault, but Fortney insists. While exploring the hole above the fault, Vibereaux and his machine fall deep into the Earth and are presumed dead by Fortney and his foreman.
Later, a figure going by the name of Vibro, the former Alton Vibereaux, sees Fortney on a news report of him having been kidnapped and held hostage by terrorists on an offshore oil rig. Vibro, now disfigured becomes irate and uses a newfound vibrating power he acquired to destroy the store where he sees the report. Back at the hotel being stayed at by Rhodes and company, Rhodes decides his help as Iron Man as needed after seeing the same report. As Iron Man, he flies to the location of the rig and fights off the terrorists but the rig is destroyed when Vibro arrives and uses his vibrating force to shake it apart. Iron Man rescues Fortney and the other hostages and drops Fortney off on land where he’s told of the location of Vibro by another man.
Iron Man finds Vibro and they fight and despite initially underestimating him, Iron Man succeeds in incapacitating him and takes him to the California State Police. Back at the hotel, Rhodes agrees to allow Stark to work on creating new repulsor gloves for the Iron Man armor despite Rhodes’s hesitation and Vibro, now behind bars, sees a news report of Fortney and Iron Man in which he becomes enraged.
