Title:

Marvel Team-Up

Synopsis:
”Tigra Tigra, Burning Bright!”

Unable to focus on his studies, Peter Parker goes out web-slinging in his identity of Spider-Man. He is unaware that he is being stalked by his old foe Kraven the Hunter. Eventually, Spider-Man’s spider-sense kicks in and he notices Kraven trying hard not to be seen. Despite getting the drop on Kraven, Spider-Man quickly loses the advantage in combat and is shot with darts that are tipped with a poison that causes Spider-Man to hallucinate and then pass out. He wakes up later, finding himself in Kraven’s hideout, bound by chains. Tigra has been enslaved by Kraven as well, much to Spider-Man’s surprise.

Kraven then taunts Spider-Man and then unleashes the feral Tigra upon him. Spider-Man tussles with Tigra, keeping on the defensive until he spots that she is wearing a control collar and breaks it, freeing her from Kraven’s hold. Furious that Kraven would attempt to enslave her like some animal, Tigra attempts to attack. However, Kraven tosses a packet of knock out gas and makes his escape.

When Spider-Man and Tigra recover, Spider-Man learns how Tigra was captured by Kraven: She explains that she had Kraven arrested on a murder charge, but Kraven went free because Tigra wasn’t around for the court case due to her brief association with the Fantastic Four. After she heard that Spider-Man then captured Kraven and the villain subsequently broke out of prison, she began tracking him again. When she thought she had him dead to rights, she realized too late that she had walked into a trap and he managed to put the control collar on her after getting the drop on her.

They continue on the hunt for Kraven and Spider-Man finds that the crook took them out to New Jersey. Before they can find Kraven he comes to them, with a whole stampede of wild animals. As Spider-Man and Tigra scale the stampede of animals, Kraven downs Tigra with a sonic device and attempts to slap another control collar on her. Spider-Man manages to stun Kraven by striking him with a web ball but falls down into the middle of the stampede.

As the animals rush by, Tigra goes back for Spider-Man to find that while he was trampled he is still alive. As Spider-Man is assessing his condition, Kraven recovers and attempts to get the drop on Spider-Man again. However, Spidey’s spider-sense saves the day and Spider-Man is able to land a knockout blow, putting the villain down for the count. Although Spider-Man nearly broke his hand, he finds satisfaction in landing the blow and wonders if Kraven will ever learn never to sneak up on someone who has a spider-sense.
