Title:

DC Comics Presents 73

Synopsis:
Synopsis for Superman and the Flash: ”Rampage In Scarlet”
As the Flash bolts across the countryside, a zig-zagging energy faster than him opens a portal and draws him in. Meanwhile on an ocean liner chartered by Morgan Edge, Clark Kent receives the Flash’s emergency signal, and excuses himself due to ”sea sickness”, before changing into Superman and following his fellow Justice Leaguer through the portal.

The portal deposits Superman on the other-dimensional world of Norkk, where bizarre clouds and a broken, floating city are suspended above the molten oceans. Sinister voices in the clouds note his arrival, while the native population of Norkkans fire upon him. They claim that his friend, the Flash, is responsible for the destruction of their city, and they weren’t taking any chances.

Superman asks for a chance to question the Flash and explain his actions, but the Flash he soon meets is no friend of Kal-El’s. He wantonly destroys the Norkkans architecture, before cursing Superman and escaping into the city’s superstructure.

The Phantom Zone Criminals are exposed as the impetus behind the Flash’s actions. Zod, Kru-El, Jax-Ur and Faora are further using their temporary storm-based telepathy to make the Norkkans build an Injector Cannon and revenge themselves on Superman. As their power fades, the Flash breaks loose from their control and takes the cannon’s blast meant for Superman and is shunted into the Phantom Zone. But he returns soon enough, as his vibratory molecules could not be kept in the Zone.

The storm over; the Phantom Zone criminals have no more power in the Norkkans dimension, and Superman carries the Flash back through the portal.

“ Flash! He would have to be the JLAer who sent out the SOS for my help! It’s not as if the poor guy hasn’t already had more than his fair share of troubles this year! Ever since he was forced to kill his arch-nemesis the Reverse-Flash to save the life of his bride-to-be... His own life has been fraught with one nightmarish complication after another. “
