While Superboy is brooding over his failure to save his parents, his foster parents and Billy Cramer. Lex Luthor threatens all life on Earth unless his old foe meets him in a showdown fight. After Superboy triumphs, and gains new confidence, he adopts the new name of Superman and goes on to graduate magna cum laude from Metropolis University. As Clark Kent, he applies for a reporting job with the Daily Planet.
