Title:
Ghost Rider: Annual 2008
Synopsis:
Meet the mysterious Mister Eleven -- a powerful player with a unique place in the battle between Heaven and Hell! But is he an angel, a demon, or something else entirely? Ghost Rider and Lucifer may find out -- if they survive an epic battle in a snow-covered, deserted amusement park! This story stands alone, but also introduces an important new character into the Ghost Rider mythos!
FLASHBACKS: Mr. Eleven kneels at Jesus’ feet during the crucifixion. Later, an angel visits Mr. Eleven. The death of Jesus brings about "the Harrowing in Hell, with Lucifer being bound by ropes.
A corpse possessed by Lucifer enters a bar, killing the bartender and all of the patrons inside except for one whom Lucifer recognizes as "Mr. Eleven,” a celestial double agent exiled from the war between Heaven and Hell. Mr. Eleven promises to help Lucifer if he can have a chance to talk to the Ghost Rider. Lucifer refuses, beheading Mr. Eleven and leaving. Mr. Eleven transfers his conscious to the dead bartender, animating the body and following after Lucifer. He soon finds Lucifer and Ghost Rider battling in the closed fairgrounds of a local carnival. When Lucifer gets the upper hand and tries to finish off Ghost Rider, Mr. Eleven jumps in front of the Rider, taking the blow from Lucifer’s animated bumper car on himself. Ghost Rider kills this version of Lucifer and kneels beside the dying Mr. Eleven, who asks as a favor to have the Rider use his powers to reveal whether he’s originally an angel or demon, as he can’t remember anymore. However Ghost Rider’s penance stare merely pierces one layer of disguise after another, alternatively revealing Mr. Eleven as a demon and then an angel, until Mr. Eleven realizes there is nothing left of what he once was except the masks. As he dies, he tells Ghost Rider that Heaven deserves his wrath more than Hell Ghost Rider leaves, unaware that Mr. Eleven has transferred himself to a bird and flown away.
