Cameron Poe was a highly decorated United States Army Ranger who has come home to Alabama and to see his wife Tricia only to run into a few drunken regulars where Tricia works. Poe unknowingly kills one of the drunks in a barroom brawl while trying to protect his pregnant wife and is sent to a federal penitentiary for involuntary manslaughter for seven years. Poe, now eligible for parole, is eager to be going home to see his wife Tricia and daughter Casey who he has never seen. Unfortunately Poe’s original flight is delayed, so he’s put aboard a flight whose transporting ten of the most dangerous convicts in America to a new high security facility. On his way to freedom, one of the criminals Cyrus ”The Virus” Grissom who is a serial killer and insane genius has hatched an idea and with the help of several other convicts, which includes Diamond Dogg, Johnny 23 and Garland Greene will skyjack the plane they are on and fly it to a neutral nation where they can live as free men. Poe finds himself stuck in the middle, as he has to find a way to get home, keep himself alive, all the while trying to look after his ex cellmate Baby O, who will die without proper medication, and try to help the cops on the ground, including agent Vince Larkin who wants Poe to help him to get the skyjacking under control and to capture the convicts once again.
