Synopsis:
Rome burns, Nero fiddles. Christianity rises. The movie features 110 speaking parts, 30,000 participants and was a filmed on location panoply of marching legions, magisterial pageantry and massive spectacle that includes martyrdom of Christians thrown to the lions before a cheering Coliseum. Robert Taylor plays the role of the legion commander, Deborah Kerr the Christian slave girl. Presiding over all of Rome is Nero played by Peter Ustinov, he is Caesar, a murderer and a madman.
