Synopsis:

Set in New Jersey and New York City in the mid-1990s, Chasing Amy follows Holden McNeil, a comic book artist who falls unexpectedly and deeply in love with Alyssa Jones, a fellow comic creator he meets at a convention. The complication is that Alyssa is a lesbian. Despite the apparent impossibility of the situation, the two develop a genuine and intimate friendship that gradually crosses into romantic territory for both of them. When Holden learns details about Alyssa’s sexual past, his own insecurities and jealousy threaten to destroy the relationship entirely. The film also traces the strain the situation places on Holden’s longtime creative partnership and friendship with his roommate Banky.
