Synopsis:

In 1959 South Dakota, a fifteen-year-old girl named Holly Sargis becomes infatuated with a charming and restless twenty-five-year-old garbage collector named Kit Carruthers, who resembles James Dean. When Holly’s father forbids the relationship and threatens to send her away, Kit shoots him and the pair flee into the wilderness. Moving westward through the Badlands of Montana, Kit continues to kill anyone who threatens their freedom while Holly narrates their journey with detached and dreamy indifference. The couple construct a brief idyllic existence in the forest before law enforcement closes in, and Kit’s casual violence brings their fugitive romance toward an inevitable conclusion.
