Little Voice

Jane Horrocks recreates her original West End performance as LV (Little Voice) who lives in the attic of an unkempt house in a dead-end English town. Ever since her father’s death, LV has been silent, spending her days listening to his treasured record collection and living in the enchanted charm of his favourite singers. Meanwhile her motor-mouthed mother, Mari (Brenda Blethlyn) - all brass and no class - is continuing on a boozy cruise for lovers. A new man struts into Mari’s life: Ray Say (Michael Caine), a sleazy and spectacularly unsuccessful local talent agent who Mari sees as her best chance yet for ’loving.’; ; One night, whilst being pawned by Mari during a drunken stupor, Ray hears the magical strains of Judy Garland, Billie HOliday and Marilyn Monroe coming from LV’s room - and realise’s it is not a recor but Little Voice herself. Stunned by her talent, he smells the big time success that has always eluded him. Now all polyester-suited Ray Say has to do is get groping Mari off him...and get the reclusive Little Voice on stage. In a clash of two minds and souls - one fragile, talented and painfully shy; the other bloated, boozed and painfully greedy; Little Voice finally gives in and goes public with her amazing impersonations...starring for one night only.
