Synopsis:
The story of three women each alive at a different time and place, searching for more potent meaningful lives, yet all linked by their common yearnings and fears. Novelist Virginia Wolfe (Nicole Kidman) is writing her work entitled "Mrs Dalloway” in 1923 England. In 1951 Los Angeles, Laura Brown (Julianne Moore), a pregnant housewife, is planning a birthday party for her husband. Clarissa Vaughn (Meryl Streep, a woman living in present day New York City is throwing a party for her friend Richard, a famous author dying of AIDS. Their generational stories intertwine and finally come together in a surprising transcendent moment of shared recognition....the stories of suicide in their lives.
